An 18-year-old man was shot and grazed in the chest by police during an operation in Kendal, St. John. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. (April 3rd) when officers approached a group of men near a shed in a wooded area. Police say someone in the group fired at them, prompting them to return fire. The young man fled and later told family he had been shot by police. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by private car, treated, and then taken into custody. A firearm was recovered at the scene. Residents dispute the police’s account, claiming they only heard one shot and denying that officers were fired upon. A senior officer has been assigned to investigate the incident. Reports also emerged of gunfire during a separate police operation at Flint Hall, St. Michael, but details are limited.
