Around 10:15 p.m. Wed, Aug 27, 2025, police responded to reports of a shooting at Simmons Land, Fairfield. The victim, Romario Payne, 25, of Haynesville, St. James, had reportedly exited a car with other men when multiple shots were fired. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene; death was later confirmed by a doctor. Investigations are ongoing.
